today is for crafts.

crafts are a weird concept if you think about. in today's world, the first thought that pops into one's mind on the subject of crafts, is kids, holidays, or forced activities. however, crafts, a century ago, were a hobby for all, a way of making money, and an everyday event for everyday needs. from little girls making dolls (to sell for a nickel), to sewing a scarf to keep warm (and making every other piece of clothing worn), to even decorating masks for a play (to portray the gender of the character)-- let's just say that the idea of "diy" is not just a concept made up by the makers of Pinterest a few years back. though, let's face it, America would love to say they created something as great as crafts.
anyhow, crafts are fun. and today was for crafts.

I made a collage wall of my recent favorite black and white photographs & a strand of tissue paper garland in gold, plum, and raspberry for above one of my windows. wow, how refined were those colors? if that doesn't say proper and "pinkys up" to you, I do not know what does.
hoorah for crafts and breaks from the ordinary.

(p.s. notice my dead cactus in photo 2? I do not know how it is possible to kill a cactus, but I did it, friends! pure talent right there. )

a cliche post.

my least favorite thing is when people all of a sudden decide to be thankful just in the month of November, or let alone on the day of thanksgiving. however, I am grateful that we are reminded of it during this season-- though, for most people, the idea of being thankful is only a trend.
though, in all of my efforts, I am, in fact, that girl who is writing a post on thankfulness... 2 days before thanksgiving. but hey, no need to complain about having moments and people to be grateful for in my life.

I am grateful for this little girl (and her brother who is not pictured) whom I babysit, for they teach me how to let loose and be a kid again.

I am grateful for my cozy room where I can relax and enjoy being alone.

I am grateful for mornings by myself that are filled with 2 too many bowls of cereal and learning about how to be a woman of Christ.

I am grateful for a kind little brother who lets me take cool shots of him like this. he is the best.
I am grateful for the realization in my heart that I do not need to be normal and follow the crowd, and the boldness to stand up for what I believe.

I am grateful for late night IHOP with sweet friends who make me laugh and who enjoy the smiley face pancakes on the kid's menu as much as I do.
I am grateful for (live)  music with (the coolest) people, for it makes me appreciate moments, not things.
I am grateful for a best friend who understands me in almost everyway and is always up to go to target with me.
I am grateful for new friends like this one, for it teaches me to open up to new people and let them enhance my life.

I am grateful for my art class where I can enter into another world full of paint and creativity without limits. (and for people who compliment my projects... I was told that this book I am working on is "badass". hey, i'll take it.)

and I am grateful for days I do not have to wear a uniform, and can express myself a small bit through my clothing.

~

I am grateful for life. and for cliché posts like this, that remind me what a life I have. happy thanksgiving, friends!

pretending to be productive.

these photos were taken from last sunday, yet I am posting them sunday. so today, I can pretend that I was productive and got up and got dressed, without actually doing so. wow, I love life.
also, this week has been pretty great. many delightful things have been happening to my family and myself, so I have been in a fab mood. yet, i have been trying to continue that mood to even the hardest, most stressful or boring weeks as well. staying joyful despite circumstances, is the plan, you guys. difficult, but worth it.

if you notice anything different around here, it may or may not be a new blog design. (it is). so now, you can.... 1) admire how adorable my blog is 2) pin my photos all the time on Pinterest and 3) PIN MY PHOTOS ALL THE TIME ON PINTEREST
okay, I may be a little too excited about this ability. and that I hit 1k followers on Pinterest, but it is the peak of my life, ladies and gents, PEAK of my life.
anyways, a big, big thank you to Rose and her amazing skills at designing. everyone should check her out, and give her blog a follow!
so, you guys like? I definitely do. (:

autumn colour.

let us start off with this: how beautiful is the word "autumn" rather than "fall"? so much prettier, if you ask me. I have decided that I am no longer using the word "fall" (God forbid,  the use of "y'all" for that matter), but better yet, the oh so lovely word, autumn. ah, autumn. this reminds me when I decided to stop saying the word "picture" about a year ago. and look at me now, world, I only ever say the wonderful word photo.
so hey you guys, here is some photos of a very much autumn outfit.

It is quite refreshing when you get to put on sweaters again and wake up to cold weather. if October is not your favorite month, there is something wrong with you.

anthropologie fall lookbook

It is no lie that I am quite in love with every piece Anthropologie chooses. The whimsical and one-of-a-kind feel collides into something so unique, yet pretty in everyway. Their latest fall items are "Paris street style" inspired (I dislike the word, themed). So, knowing me, of course I am all over the entire collection. Take a moment with me and appreciate ( and envy) some beautiful clothes. We can pretend to be in Paris too, If you want.

the perfect fancy pullover to throw over jeans and boots this fall.

these pants. GAH, these pants.

elegance at it's finest. the Eiffel tower is an appropriate back-drop, I think.

everything about this outfit is very "me". whatever that means to you, take it and run with it. (in the meantime, buy me this dress)

p.s. I've missed you guys. (:

in my room: inspiration walls | video

I thought I would change my format up I the fourth part of my 'in my room' series, which is my inspiration walls. I made a short video showcasing the sides of my closets which are also the sides of my desk. hard to explain via words, so i thought  a little cinematography would be best. also, you can see my desk, bed, and  bookshelf wall in my previous posts.

here is the link, friends. watch & enjoy. (:

thoughts on ramen.

yay for sloppy iphone photos. I know you like them.

first, let's talk about my hair. pretty bad, eh? this is the result of going to an all-girls school. hooray for split ends and messy locks.
now on the what's really important in life: RAMEN. seriously, what is better, cheaper and healthier than ramen? nothing. well, maybe that last part is not true... but we can leave that part out for now. I do not know if it is a good or bad thing that I am addicted to ramen and I have 2 years until college. and what is even scarier is that I am typing a full post dedicated to it (and my hair, of course). this, my friends, is what my life has come to. a sad, sad life some declare... BUT OH  THE CONTRARY, ramen is a happy, happy life.
hope you enjoyed my rant on a block of $0.11 noodles. oh and happy autumn, everyone!

currently crazy.

currently life is crazy. thought I would catch you guys up on the chaos that a new school year brings.

my older brother, Jackson, went off to college at the end of august. i know he misses the constant selfies i make him participate in.

i went to the lake with some friends over labor day to enjoy some boat rides and tubing on the water. i am still sore after 2 weeks, if that says anything about out tubing experience.

found some pretty rad pants/leggings at target... sadly, my mom does not appreciate cats, much less leggings, so she said no. like, what is she trying to do? protect me from friendships and stares from random people?

here is a big thing... i started a new school. and i wear uniforms. yes, uniforms. never in a million years would i think i would be wearing a plaid skirt and polo to school. but, i like it to far even though it is never fun to be the new girl again.

i joined art club at my school, and we made these cool little dream catchers. one girl told me that mine looked like the Indians made it. i couldn't tell if it was a joke or not, so i just rolled with it and awkwardly laughed.

this scene has been the reoccurring sight for most of my nights these past few weeks. i have never had so much work and studying to do on a daily basis. it is insane.

i got these little happies this weekend! i have been wanting succulents all summer, but just now finally got around to completing my project. they sit in my window ceil and make me smile. oh the things that make me joyful.

remnants of summer.

oh, just some snow cone stand shenanigans with my little bro. memories like these are my favorite.
they make me miss that day filled with my cool people (aka myself, the bro, and my bff, parker), sweat and too much food. (:
