in my room: inspiration walls | video

I thought I would change my format up I the fourth part of my 'in my room' series, which is my inspiration walls. I made a short video showcasing the sides of my closets which are also the sides of my desk. hard to explain via words, so i thought  a little cinematography would be best. also, you can see my desk, bed, and  bookshelf wall in my previous posts.

here is the link, friends. watch & enjoy. (:

thoughts on ramen.

yay for sloppy iphone photos. I know you like them.

first, let's talk about my hair. pretty bad, eh? this is the result of going to an all-girls school. hooray for split ends and messy locks.
now on the what's really important in life: RAMEN. seriously, what is better, cheaper and healthier than ramen? nothing. well, maybe that last part is not true... but we can leave that part out for now. I do not know if it is a good or bad thing that I am addicted to ramen and I have 2 years until college. and what is even scarier is that I am typing a full post dedicated to it (and my hair, of course). this, my friends, is what my life has come to. a sad, sad life some declare... BUT OH  THE CONTRARY, ramen is a happy, happy life.
hope you enjoyed my rant on a block of $0.11 noodles. oh and happy autumn, everyone!

currently crazy.

currently life is crazy. thought I would catch you guys up on the chaos that a new school year brings.

my older brother, Jackson, went off to college at the end of august. i know he misses the constant selfies i make him participate in.

i went to the lake with some friends over labor day to enjoy some boat rides and tubing on the water. i am still sore after 2 weeks, if that says anything about out tubing experience.

found some pretty rad pants/leggings at target... sadly, my mom does not appreciate cats, much less leggings, so she said no. like, what is she trying to do? protect me from friendships and stares from random people?

here is a big thing... i started a new school. and i wear uniforms. yes, uniforms. never in a million years would i think i would be wearing a plaid skirt and polo to school. but, i like it to far even though it is never fun to be the new girl again.

i joined art club at my school, and we made these cool little dream catchers. one girl told me that mine looked like the Indians made it. i couldn't tell if it was a joke or not, so i just rolled with it and awkwardly laughed.

this scene has been the reoccurring sight for most of my nights these past few weeks. i have never had so much work and studying to do on a daily basis. it is insane.

i got these little happies this weekend! i have been wanting succulents all summer, but just now finally got around to completing my project. they sit in my window ceil and make me smile. oh the things that make me joyful.

remnants of summer.

oh, just some snow cone stand shenanigans with my little bro. memories like these are my favorite.
they make me miss that day filled with my cool people (aka myself, the bro, and my bff, parker), sweat and too much food. (:

i love you, fall.

I don't know if I have mentioned it before, but I love layers. layers correspond with fall which corresponds with cold weather which corresponds with my birthday. all of that wrapped up into a season makes me shout  (& tweet) the words 'I love you, fall' too many times.

with all that said and done, these are just a few unexpected ways I am going to layer and shout 'I love you, fall' this year.

I loved cropped pieces. and let it be known that I may or may not have been called the "cropped top queen" in middle school. I am pretty sure that was said not in a 'you're so fashionable' way, but more in a 'wear a freaking shirt that fits you, cate' way. yeah, middle school was fun.

this dynamic duo combines my two loves in fall: open knits and plaid. and BOOM, they get married and live happily ever after.

the perfect transition from summer to fall, is a pairing your summer tops underneath a big cardigan or other outer garment of choice. mine would be my favorite anorak military-esque jacket.

I love you, fall. i love you, layers. i love you, scarves and boots. oh and i love you, cold nights and colorful leaves.

uh, did i mention i LOVE fall?

a style portfolio: victoria

school is back, and boy, I am exhausted and overwhelmed. getting back into the swing of things is refreshing at first, but after the two weeks all I want to do is sleep and sleep again. aside from starting school, I am also beginning a new series I mentioned here called "a style portfolio". you can read what it is about in that post, but basically in a nutshell it is a series focusing on styles other than my own.

to start us off, Victoria from Little Words and Lessons Learned blog is going to show us her lovely style.

Describe your style in 3 words.
Casual, quirky, and eclectic.

What is one piece of clothing you cannot live without?
My red Keds. I wear them with almost everything.

Winter or Summer clothes?
Winter, probably. I’m a big fan of scarves, tights, and layering in general. But I'm not a fan of cold. Cold is gross.

How is your style different from others?
That’s a tough one. I would say it’s different because my style isn’t very fixed. I like to pair up pieces of clothing that you wouldn’t normally expect together.
What is your go-to outfit when you are running late?
My black V-neck, jean shorts, and red Keds. Boo-yah.

Why do you like to be fashionable/stylish?
I’ve never considered myself fashionable or stylish before...So, thank you! What you wear says a lot about who you are, I like to dress to reflect who I am, and so I try be creative with my wardrobe and dress outside of the box.

~
thanks so much, Victoria. you are seriously the best. all of you guys should follow her blog, Little Words and Lessons Learned. also, it is not to late to email me (catemarg@gmail.com) if you want to be apart of this series. get excited.
